Qualified for success
July 2021 | By Esurv Staff
When it comes to vocational qualifications, a global pandemic wasn’t about to derail those e.surv colleagues who celebrated success this year.
Through a combination of commitment, tenacity, and invaluable support, they were able to apply themselves in challenging conditions and achieve their goals.
Not only has this been a year of extraordinary professional achievement in the face of adversity, but we continue to recruit trainee and experienced surveyors across the country.
APC: The route to Chartered status
Last month, following many months of hard work, surveyor Mohammed Makhtar passed his Assessment of Professional Competence (otherwise known as the ‘APC’) to attain MRICS Chartered status. It’s a fantastic achievement given the COVID restrictions and the degree of preparation and depth of knowledge involved in the APC. Many congratulations to you, Mo.
Mo’s achievement represents a milestone for APC programme leader, Chris Kenton, who took over the running of the programme when Mike Toosey left the business earlier this year.
Says Chris, “The APC course has been restructured to be more user friendly and less time-heavy, freeing up capacity where possible. Surveyors considering the APC and Chartered status with e.surv should definitely take a fresh look at our programme”.
Chris is currently supporting a further 13 APC candidates through the process, all of whom are due to make their submissions to the RICS in early 2021. Good luck, all.
AssocRICS: To qualification and beyond …
Without doubt, 2020 has proved to the best year for AssocRICS success, with over 40 colleagues passing their submissions against a backdrop of COVID-19, furlough leave, and travel/property access restrictions.
A total of 41 trainee surveyors have progressed to operational status during 2020 (that total was 34 during 2019), 35 of whom completed our AssocRICS training programme and achieved RICS accreditation during 2020.
The remaining six joined us via the Sava route but became operational during 2020, and one additional trainee surveyor achieved the AssocRICS qualification during the October 2020 window but will not become fully operational until 2021.
Our Recruitment team is currently recruiting for graduates with RICS-recognised degrees, to join our Trainee Surveyor Programme in February 2021, when the cycle starts again.
The Sava route: Experience counts
Of course, a university degree is not the only route into residential surveying. In recent years, the industry has recognised the considerable knowledge and skills of those with experience of the property industry built up over many years.
e.surv works closely with Sava to identify talented property professionals pursuing the Diploma in Residential Surveying. Those with the most potential and that certain something needed to have a successful career with e.surv are recruited on to e.surv’s Sava conversion programme.
This month, we welcomed three new Sava graduates on to our conversion programme and we will follow their progress towards AssocRICS submission.
Congratulations!
We’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our colleagues who achieved their professional qualifications this year, and to all the trainers, mentors, Area Operations Managers and wider business colleagues who contributed to that success. That they did so in the strangest of circumstances is a true reflection of their capability and potential, and we are immensely proud of them all.
